The Story in Short

A hungry jackal wandered into a town and, while running from barking dogs, fell into a tub of blue dye. When he came out, his whole body had turned bright blue.

The other animals in the forest had never seen such a creature and were frightened. The clever jackal pretended to be a special king sent by the gods, and all the animals began to serve him. He enjoyed his royal life, but hid the fact that he was really just a jackal.

One night, hearing other jackals howling far away, the blue jackal could not stop himself from howling back. At once the animals realised he was only an ordinary jackal who had fooled them, and they chased him away.
