The Story in Short

An old farmer had four sons who were always quarrelling with one another. No matter how much he advised them, they would not stop fighting. The farmer was worried about their future.

One day he called his sons and gave each of them a single stick, asking them to break it. Easily, each son snapped his stick in two. Then the farmer tied a bundle of sticks together and asked them to break it. No matter how hard they tried, none could break the bundle.

The wise farmer explained that a single stick breaks easily, but sticks tied together are strong. In the same way, his sons would be strong only if they stayed united. From that day, the brothers stopped fighting and lived together in unity.
